Dibeke or Skululu

Dibeke or Skululu is a multi-skill running ball game or sport.  The game is a competitive team sport, played by two teams of twelve members /players which consist of six females and six males in each team and one of the members in each of the team are selected as the Captain.  Each team is also allowed to have an unlimited number of substitutes, however, the number of substitutes in each time are regulated to three players during a match.  All three substitutes cannot play at the same on the field and the substitutes are also not allowed within three minutes on the field after the last substitute.  There will be one score keeper (SK) assigned by each time and a match facilitator (MF) who are assigned to keep a record of all substitutions.  An MF is appointed before each match who will need to be impartial, and he /she will be in control of the game and will need to check if the field is in a good enough condition for players to play on and will report to them 30 minutes before the game starts if they can go-ahead and play.  There will be one score sheet to record points and final score of the game.  However, SK's will each possess a scoreboard with numbers one to twenty and will continuously be in communication with each other to assess if their scores are recorded correct on their score sheets.  For this reason, they will need to stand together outside of the borders of play area adjacent to the centre line to record all runs and points scored but they are not allowed to stop the game.  Should there be any disputes regarding the scores then the MF will have the final decision on the score.  The MF's will be the timekeeper and will therefore inform the Score Keeper and Captain as to what time the game starts, he /she will also ensure that the conduct of the game is strictly played fairly in accordance with the rules.  In the MF's possession he/she will have a stopwatch, a whistle, as well as one red and one yellow card.  The red card is used to suspend a player from the entire game for an offence and then the player has to sit with the spectators.  Whereas the yellow card is used for MF's are not allowed to change during a match and will only be allowed to change if the circumstances are life-threatening.  Should the MF change due to this reasoning then each Captain from both teams should agree if they are comfortable with the replacing MF for the game or match to continue.  The duration of a match is 80 minutes long, but it's broken down into two half time games which are 40 minutes long with a break of maximum 10 minutes in-between.

The Dibeke game requires that all players are intellectually wit and possess physical skills and abilities.  The Dibeke game is played with a one size 3 leather ball for senior and one size 1 leather ball for juniors.  The game is competitive in the sense that the game is played to win and the winning team is the team who scores the most runs and points.  The players will therefore be required to wear running shoes when playing with ankle socks preferably.  The game is aimed at players to have fun, building unity and for players to learn about gender equality. The two teams will take turns as either the attackers or defenders dependent on how the game goes.  The attackers score their points on the main playing area that is a strip similar to a cricket pitch and the defenders are spread around this strip.  Points are accumulated similar to how you play cricket or baseball, instead of a bat, as in cricket or baseball, the Dibeke attackers kick the soccer ball and defenders can use their hands to pass the ball to each other in an effort to tag the attackers. Tagging is meant by when the players in this case called the defenders chases the opposing players called the attackers trying to touch them with the ball.  If the defenders tag the attackers with the ball, then you are out. The game is basically a challenge for the opposition players to score as many points as possible, running up and down the strip once the ball is in play.  Once all the attackers are out, the defenders then get their turn to attack, however, if all the attackers are not tagged out then they will continue to play in those positions until the end to win.
